Panama City Beach City Council Approves New Sidewalk Project for Front Beach Road

Panama City Beach residents and visitors, who flock to its famous white-sand beaches, can look forward to enhanced pedestrian safety and accessibility along a key stretch of Front Beach Road. The Panama City Beach City Council unanimously approved a new sidewalk construction project during its regular meeting yesterday, April 15, 2026.

The project will install new sidewalks on the north side of Front Beach Road, extending from the intersection of Richard Jackson Boulevard, near the bustling Pier Park shopping district, west to Alf Coleman Road. This initiative aims to improve walkability in a high-traffic area that currently lacks continuous pedestrian pathways, addressing a long-standing community request.

Funding for the project, estimated at $1.2 million, will come from the city's capital improvement budget. Construction is anticipated to begin in late summer 2026, with a projected completion by early 2027. Further details regarding the construction timeline and potential traffic impacts will be released by the City's Public Works Department in the coming months.
