The Packers previously extended Jayden Reed's contract during the recent draft. Watson also signed a one-year extension through the 2025 season. Gutekunst clarified that Reed's new deal does not indicate any plans to move on from Watson.

Green Bay's wide receiver group saw changes with Dontayvion Wicks traded to the Eagles and Romeo Doubs departing for the Patriots as a free agent. The team did not draft any wide receivers, establishing Reed, Watson, and 2025 first-round pick Matthew Golden as the projected top three receivers for the 2026 season. Securing a long-term contract for Watson would solidify this core trio for multiple seasons.
