Oakland Park Restaurant Fire: What We Know So Far
Fire crews extinguished a structure fire at the restaurant on the Days Inn property at 1595 W. Oakland Park Blvd. in Oakland Park, and officials say no injuries were reported, according to WSVN 7News, Local 10 News and iHeartRadio Florida News. This is what we know so far.
According to a city spokesperson cited by Local 10 News, the restaurant was adjacent to the hotel but not connected to the main hotel building. Reporters said hotel guests did not need to be evacuated, and no one was transported to the hospital. In available coverage, officials said the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
WSVN reported visible heavy smoke and flames coming from the building before Oakland Park Fire Rescue extinguished the blaze. One report also said a propane tank near the fire was left untouched. The restaurant remained closed after the fire while authorities continued their work, according to WSVN.
The response appears to have been a targeted fire operation rather than a broader hotel emergency, based on reports that the blaze was contained to the restaurant structure and did not spread to the connected lodging facility. No road closures or traffic impacts were confirmed in the available reporting.
Dispatch records show 74 similar structure fire incidents in Oakland Park over the past six months, underscoring how frequently local crews have been called out for fire responses in the city.
Authorities have not announced a cause, and no suspect information has been reported. Officials are expected to release additional findings as the investigation progresses.
Day.News will continue to update this story as officials release more information.
