No Local Impact from Ashikaga Shogunate

Staff Writer
April 9, 2026

Punta Gorda residents can rest assured that the historical Ashikaga Shogunate, a period of military rule in Japan spanning from 1336 to 1573, has no direct impact or relevance to our local community. While an important part of Japanese history, this distant historical period does not affect local governance, community events, or daily life in Punta Gorda, from the serene waterfronts of Charlotte Harbor to our tree-lined neighborhoods.

Our local news coverage remains focused on issues pertinent to our city, such as upcoming City Council meetings, infrastructure projects along US-41, and community initiatives at Gilchrist Park. We will continue to bring you timely and factual information that directly impacts the lives of Punta Gorda residents.
