Nicole Henry Performs Whitney Houston at The Palladium
Jazz singer Nicole Henry brings a one-woman show to The Palladium on Saturday, March 28, weaving her life story through Whitney Houston's songs.
Henry grew up listening to Houston in the 1980s and has sung her music for years. "As a jazz artist, I've always come at it from a pop-soul background," Henry said from her Miami home. "I never knew they were supposed to be difficult until I'd been singing them for years."
The Miami Herald called Henry "the vocal love child of Whitney Houston and Sarah Vaughn." A theater and film director suggested she build a show around her personal history using Houston's catalog. The result shares where Henry was and who she was when she first encountered these songs.
Henry performs with a four-piece band and two backup singers, accompanied by projected visuals. Tickets are available through The Palladium's website.
