NCF Athletics Dominates with Five Weekly Honors Across Soccer, Volleyball, and Cross Country

Sarasota's New College of Florida (NCF) Athletics recently celebrated a significant achievement, collecting five weekly honors across three different sports. This recognition highlights the strong performances of several Mighty Banyans athletes.

The standout performance came from Naomi Woerner, who earned the PrestoSports NAIA Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. Woerner also secured her second consecutive Sun Conference Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week award, marking a dominant start to her 2026 season.

Woerner's impressive statistics through NCF’s first four matches included eight goals and three assists, totaling 19 points. She scored at least once in all four contests. Woerner began the 2026 season with a hat trick in the Mighty Banyans’ 16-0 victory over Florida Polytechnic on August 20. She followed that with a goal against Florida National and then scored twice against Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. She capped this early season run with two goals and three assists against Wesleyan College on Sunday, accounting for seven points. Her three assists in that game established a new NCF single-game program record. Woerner's eight goals through four matches have already tied Sophia Hernandez Cruz’s 2024 NCF single-season program record, and she became the program’s all-time leader in career goals during the season opener against Florida Poly. Through four matches, Woerner leads The Sun Conference with eight goals, 13 shots on goal, and three assists, averaging 2.00 goals and 4.75 points per match.

Beyond soccer, volleyball players Soraya Nacero and Addison Phillippe were named Sun Conference Attacker and Setter of the Week, respectively. In cross country, Mireille Gomez and Cole Fleming swept The Sun Conference Cross Country Runner of the Week awards, completing the haul of honors for NCF.
