JACKSON, Miss. – A mother in Mississippi has requested information regarding the death of her daughter, Tasia Fortune. Authorities discovered Fortune deceased on July 10 in a wooded area near her home, according to the Jackson Police Department.
Police had previously identified Fortune, 25, as a missing person. Fortune's mother, Lisa Wilson, reported her missing on July 7 after not hearing from her for several days.
Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade held a press conference on July 11. He stated that investigators found Fortune's body hanging from a tree in the woods. Chief Wade said authorities considered the death an apparent suicide based on initial findings. He indicated that the investigation remained ongoing.
Wilson has expressed skepticism regarding the preliminary findings. She has publicly asked for a thorough investigation into her daughter's death. Local residents have also echoed calls for transparency and more information from authorities.
