Missile Strike Hits Odesa, Killing At Least 17

ODESA, Ukraine – A missile strike in Odesa on Friday resulted in the deaths of at least 17 individuals. Ukrainian officials reported that the attack also injured 30 people, with emergency services continuing search operations at the site.

The strike hit a recreational facility and damaged multiple residential buildings in the city, according to Ukrainian authorities. They released images depicting a multi-story building engulfed in flames and responders working through debris.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the event. He stated that had Ukraine received modern air defense interceptors from its partners, such an attack could have been prevented. Zelenskyy did not specify the type of air defense systems he referenced.

The Russian defense ministry stated it conducted strikes on logistics hubs and supply centers in Kyiv and the surrounding region. The ministry did not immediately comment on the Odesa incident.

Ukrainian officials did not provide immediate details on the type of missile used in the Odesa attack or its origin. Rescue workers and medical personnel remained at the scene following the incident.
