Miramar Apartment Shooting: What We Know So Far
A woman died after being shot at a Miramar apartment complex, and police say the case began as a robbery call before it was upgraded to a shooting. That is what we know so far from Miramar police and WSVN.
According to Miramar police, officers responded to a reported robbery and then found a woman with a gunshot wound and a man at the scene. Police said they believed the man lived in the complex and may have pulled the trigger. Miramar police spokesperson Janice McIntosh said, "She was transported; her condition is unknown at this time." The woman later died at the hospital, according to reporting reviewed by WSVN.
WSVN reported that the detained man told detectives he and the woman had been casually dating. He also told investigators the woman was robbing him inside his apartment when he shot her, according to WSVN. The victim’s identity had not been released in the reporting reviewed, and police had not announced any final charges.
The response included Miramar police officers and emergency personnel at the apartment complex, with the call initially handled as a robbery before being upgraded to a shooting. That upgrade indicates officers found evidence of an active violent incident after arriving on scene.
Dispatch records show no recent historical incidents at this location.
Police said the investigation remains active, and further details have not been released. More information could come from Miramar police as detectives continue questioning the man and reviewing the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
