Midwest Poultry Services Recalls 1.6 Million Dozen Eggs Amid Salmonella Outbreak

Midwest Poultry Services, L.P. recalled 1,589,577 dozen shell eggs on July 22, 2026, citing potential Salmonella contamination. The company specified the recall involved "brown cage free" eggs.

Health officials identified 44 individuals with illnesses linked to the outbreak. Of these, 40 individuals, representing 91% of those with available information, reported consuming eggs before experiencing symptoms. Investigators did not immediately release details about the remaining four individuals.

Twenty-six individuals have required hospitalization as a result of the illness. Officials have not reported any fatalities in connection with the outbreak.
