Miami-Dade Parks Mobilize for 70+ Shoreline Cleanups on International Coastal Cleanup Day

Miami-Dade County parks will join over 70 shoreline cleanups across the county for the International Coastal Cleanup Day this Saturday, September 19, 2026. This global event, spearheaded by the Ocean Conservancy, sees local participation organized by VolunteerCleanup.org.

The cleanup efforts are crucial for managing marine debris and litter in public spaces, including beaches, marinas, historical sites, and natural preserves. Residents can contribute to the health of local waterways and shorelines by volunteering at numerous participating sites.

Miami-Dade County Volunteers in Parks (VIP) play an essential role in the success of these initiatives. The county's participation highlights ongoing efforts to maintain the beauty and ecological balance of its coastal areas.

The International Coastal Cleanup has been an annual event, bringing communities together to address pollution in marine environments. VolunteerCleanup.org coordinates Miami-Dade's involvement, ensuring a widespread impact across the region.

Residents interested in participating can register to volunteer at one of the many sites. Participating locations include Amelia Earhart Park, Black Point Marina, Chapman Field Park, Crandon Park Oceanside, Deering Estate, Deering Estate People's Dock, Deering Point, East Greynolds Park Land Clean Up, Haulover Beach Jetty, Haulover Park Bayside, Hobie Island, Homestead Bayfront Park, Matheson Hammock Park, Pelican Harbor Marina, Venetian Causeway, and Virginia Key Dog Beach Park. A separate cleanup at Crandon Park Marina Paddle Cleanup took place on September 12.
