Marine Warning for Mississippi Sound: High Winds Expected Until 11:30 PM CDT

Boaters on the Mississippi Sound should immediately seek shelter or move to safe harbor due to a Special Marine Warning issued by the National Weather Service in New Orleans. This warning is effective until 11:30 PM CDT tonight, September 21.

A severe thunderstorm was detected at 10:30 PM CDT near Pass Christian, moving southwest at 10 knots. This storm is generating wind gusts of 34 knots or greater. The NWS warns that small craft could sustain damage from these briefly higher winds and suddenly higher waves.

Affected locations include Cat Island, Bay St. Louis, Waveland, Pass Christian, and Long Beach. All individuals on board vessels are urged to wear life jackets. Strong winds pose a danger to boaters and anyone near the water until the hazardous weather passes.
