Man Dies After Hospital Discharge, Family Seeks Answers
A man who sought treatment at a hospital emergency department died in the facility's parking lot hours after his discharge. Hospital staff had evaluated the man before his release.
Emergency medical services transported the man to the hospital after he called 911 requesting assistance. Records indicate he informed medical personnel about drug use and reported experiencing pain. Hospital documentation shows staff concluded he was exaggerating symptoms. He received medication for nausea and was subsequently discharged from the emergency department.
Security personnel located the man unresponsive in his car in the hospital parking lot approximately three hours after his discharge. They brought him back into the emergency room, where medical staff pronounced him dead.
