Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes continues his rehabilitation from major knee surgery. Head Coach Andy Reid stated Mahomes is "making progress." However, Reid did not provide a definitive timeline for Mahomes' return, particularly regarding the season opener.
Mahomes recently participated in the 15 and the Mahomies Vegas Golf Classic. He posted a video of a tee shot during the event, which showed his left knee.
Mahomes underwent surgery on December 15, one day after he sustained tears to his ACL and LCL in his left knee. The NFL scheduled the Chiefs for multiple primetime games despite the lack of a clear return date for Mahomes. NFL executive Hans Schroeder indicated the league considered the Chiefs one of the most popular teams and planned their primetime appearances prior to knowing Mahomes' exact recovery timeline. Schroeder noted the league felt encouraged by Reid's recent comments regarding Mahomes' rehabilitation.
