Lyman's Drumming Up Wishes Rocks $25K Goal for Maine Kids
LYMAN, Maine (Day.News) — The rhythms of rock and resilience filled Funky Bow Brewery on Sunday as the 6th annual Drumming Up Wishes concert united York County for Make-A-Wish Maine. Hosted at 21 Ledgwood Lane from noon to 6 p.m., the event drew crowds to support kids facing critical illnesses across the state. Professional drummer Jeff Glidden, a Lyman resident and father whose two children received Make-A-Wish grants, founded the fundraiser six years ago to turn personal gratitude into action.
This year's lineup featured a powerhouse of local bands, pounding out tunes amid craft brews and family-friendly vibes at the popular Lyman venue. Organizers set a bold target of $25,500 — enough to fund multiple wishes, from dream vacations to celebrity meet-and-greets for Maine's youngest fighters. Glidden's initiative has become a staple in southern Maine's music scene, blending high-energy performances with a mission that resonates in tight-knit communities like Lyman, population around 4,300.
Make-A-Wish Maine, which granted over 50 wishes last year statewide, relies on events like this to bring joy amid hardship. In a state where rural access to specialized care can isolate families, these funds bridge gaps for children in places from Portland to Presque Isle. As the final notes faded Sunday, early reports suggested the event hit its mark, fueling more magic for Maine kids.
