Local Photographer Shares Secret Tokyo Tower Viewpoint
Fort Myers resident and avid photographer, Sarah Jenkins, recently shared a little-known tip for capturing the iconic Tokyo Tower without the usual throngs of tourists. Jenkins, known locally for her stunning landscape shots of the Caloosahatchee River and the Edison & Ford Winter Estates, revealed her secret spot during a casual chat at the Fort Myers Beach Art Association's monthly meeting last Tuesday.
According to Jenkins, the best vantage point for an unobstructed view of Tokyo Tower is from the rooftop garden of the Caretta Shiodome shopping complex. "Most people head straight to the main observation decks, but the Caretta Shiodome offers a fantastic, free, and often empty perspective," Jenkins explained. "You get a great angle, especially at dusk when the tower lights up. It's perfect for those who want to avoid the crowds and get a truly unique shot."
While the tip is for a location far from Southwest Florida, Jenkins believes the spirit of finding hidden gems applies everywhere. "Whether it's a quiet spot for a sunset photo at Bowditch Point Park, a serene overlook along the historic River District, or a unique angle of the Fort Myers Fishing Pier, the best photos often come from looking beyond the obvious," she added. Her advice resonated with several members of the local photography club present at the meeting, who appreciated the insight from a seasoned traveler and artist.
