Clover Hill Dairy Linked to Listeria Outbreak in Recalled Soft Cheeses, Public Health Warning Issued

North Miami Beach residents should continue to avoid certain soft cheeses following an ongoing investigation into a Listeria monocytogenes outbreak. Federal health officials linked Clover Hill Dairy, LLC to the contamination, prompting a public health warning.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) continues its investigation into the outbreak. As of June 15, 2026, six requeson cheese samples and one environmental sample collected by the Maryland Department of Health tested positive for the outbreak strain of Listeria monocytogenes. On June 24, 2026, a second environmental sample collected from Clover Hill Dairy, LLC by Maryland state partners also tested positive and matched the outbreak strain. This indicates a potential contamination source at Clover Hill Dairy, LLC.

Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections, especially in vulnerable populations. Pregnant women, newborns, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems face a higher risk. Symptoms include fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, and convulsions. Pregnant women typically experience only fever and other non-specific symptoms, but infection can lead to miscarriage, stillbirth, premature delivery, or life-threatening infection of the newborn.

Consumers should not eat, sell, or serve any recalled cheeses linked to this outbreak. If you have any recalled products, dispose of them safely. Clean and sanitize any surfaces that may have come into contact with the recalled cheese.

The FDA's investigation remains ongoing. Local health officials advise residents to stay informed about any further updates regarding recalled products or additional safety measures.
