Local Collector Unveils Rare Hemimorphite Crystal
Naples resident and avid mineral collector, Arthur Jenkins, recently unveiled a stunning 10-carat blue hemimorphite crystal, a rare find that has garnered attention among local enthusiasts. Jenkins, who has been collecting minerals for over three decades, acquired the specimen last month from a private dealer.
The crystal, known for its distinctive sky-blue hue and delicate formation, is currently on display at Jenkins' home studio on the scenic Gulf Shore Boulevard North. He plans to host a small, private viewing for members of the Naples Gem & Mineral Society next Saturday, April 12, from 2 PM to 4 PM. Interested members can contact the society for more details.
Hemimorphite is a zinc silicate mineral, and specimens of this size and color are considered particularly valuable by collectors. Jenkins expressed his excitement about sharing the unique piece with the local community, hoping it will spark further interest in geology and mineralogy among Naples residents.
