A fire at the Seawind Lakes Apartments in Lauderdale Lakes displaced dozens of residents and left multiple units heavily damaged, according to local news coverage. This is what we know so far.
According to Fast Guard Service, WSVN and NBC Miami, the blaze started in a first-floor apartment on Northwest 36th Street and spread to several nearby units. Reporters said 38 residents were displaced, including more than 10 children, and no injuries were reported in the available coverage.
The American Red Cross was on scene helping residents with hotel vouchers and other assistance, according to the reports. Nine families were left without homes, and crews boarded up the building after the fire, which was described as causing significant or heavy damage.
Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded to the fire and worked for hours to bring it under control and protect residents, according to the coverage. Officials said the fire spread to multiple units before crews contained it.
