Lauderdale Lakes Apartment Fire Leaves 38 Displaced: What We Know So Far
A fire at the Seawind Lakes Apartments in Lauderdale Lakes displaced 38 residents, including more than 10 children, and sent nine families from the building, according to local reports. This is what we know so far.
According to NBC Miami and WSVN, the blaze started in a first-floor apartment shortly after 11 p.m. on Northwest 36th Street and spread to multiple units. No injuries were reported, and all four floors of the affected building were evacuated during the incident.
Local reporting said Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue responded to the scene and battled the fire for hours. The fire caused significant damage to the building, and the American Red Cross provided hotel vouchers and other assistance to residents who were left homeless.
The Florida State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire. Preliminary reporting from local outlets said the fire did not appear suspicious, and no public finding of arson or criminal activity has been announced.
Dispatch records show 86 similar structure fire incidents in Lauderdale Lakes over the past six months.
