Laramie High Girls Repeat as 4A Indoor Track Champs
The 2026 Wyoming High School Indoor Track State Championships wrapped up Saturday at the Campbell County Recreation Center Fieldhouse in Gillette, marking the 16th straight year for the venue. Laramie High's girls' team, the defending champions from 2025, clinched the Class 4A title again, securing their third in school history. They dominated relays, repeating as 4x400 and sprint medley champions, while individual standouts like Lainey Berryhill returned to defend her 200, 400 and 800-meter titles from last year.
Key performers propelled Laramie to the top, building on 2025's 12 state records including Berryhill's 400-meter mark and Kate Lewis's shot put win. Returning relay prowess from the 4x400 and sprint medley, combined with depth across sprints, gave the Plainswomen the edge over rivals like Sheridan and Cheyenne Central. The top four teams earned trophies, with Laramie's repeat underscoring their sprint and relay strength amid 30 competing teams.
All-state honors recognized 108 athletes across classifications, with Laramie's stars shining in a meet featuring medals for the top eight in each event. As outdoor regionals loom May 15-16 at Cheyenne East for 4A East, Laramie's indoor success positions them strongly for the Class 4A state outdoor championships. This Gillette triumph highlights Albany County's pride in a program chasing further history.
