Lakeland Library Media Center to Host Spring Reading Challenge
The Lakeland Library Media Center announced today its upcoming Spring Reading Challenge, designed to encourage reading among all ages in the Polk County community. The challenge, which kicks off on Monday, April 15, 2026, invites Lakeland residents to log their reading hours for a chance to win local prizes.
Participants can register at the library's front desk on historic Main Street during regular operating hours. The challenge will run through May 31, 2026, culminating in a celebratory event at the library on Saturday, June 8, 2026, where prizes will be awarded. Categories for participation include children, teens, and adults, with various incentives for reaching reading milestones.
"We're thrilled to bring this Spring Reading Challenge to Lakeland," said Library Director Martha Jenkins. "It's a wonderful opportunity to foster a love of reading and connect our community through shared literary experiences. We encourage everyone, from our youngest readers to our seasoned bookworms, to join in the fun."
Further details regarding prize sponsors and specific reading goals will be available at the Lakeland Library Media Center starting next week. Residents can also call the library at 555-1234 for more information.
