Lake City Prepares for Annual Spring Clean-Up Initiative
Lake City residents are encouraged to mark their calendars for the annual Spring Clean-Up Initiative, scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 26, 2026. This community-wide effort aims to beautify public spaces and neighborhoods across Lake City.
The initiative, organized by the Lake City Department of Public Works, will focus on areas including Lakefront Park nestled by Lake DeSoto, the historic downtown commercial district along Main Street, and various residential streets. Volunteers are needed to assist with litter collection, light landscaping, and general tidying.
"This is a fantastic opportunity for everyone to come together and show pride in our city," said Martha Jenkins, Director of Public Works. "A clean community benefits us all, from property values to simply enjoying our beautiful surroundings."
Volunteers can register at the Lake City Community Center, located at 123 Oak Avenue, between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM on the day of the event. Supplies such as gloves, trash bags, and safety vests will be provided. Light refreshments will also be available for participants. The clean-up is expected to conclude around noon.
For more information or to sign up in advance, residents can contact the Department of Public Works at 555-1234 during business hours.
