Kuzma Family Donates Historic Collection to Sarasota Historical Society
Sarasota residents will soon have a deeper look into the city's past thanks to a significant donation from the Kuzma family. Yesterday, April 15, the family formally presented a collection of historical documents, photographs, and artifacts to the Sarasota Historical Society, located at 1260 12th Street in downtown Sarasota.
The collection, amassed over three generations by the Kuzma family, includes early 20th-century photographs of downtown Sarasota, original land deeds from the 1930s, and personal correspondence from prominent early Sarasota settlers. "This donation offers an invaluable window into the everyday lives and significant moments that shaped our community," stated Eleanor Vance, Director of the Sarasota Historical Society, during a small ceremony at the society's headquarters.
Among the notable items are blueprints for several historic homes in the Laurel Park district and a series of photographs documenting the construction of the Ringling Causeway that connected the mainland to Lido Key. The Historical Society plans to begin cataloging the collection immediately, with a public exhibit expected to be ready by late summer. Details on the exhibit's opening date and specific featured items will be announced in the coming months.
The Sarasota Historical Society encourages community members to visit their website or call their office at (941) 555-1234 for updates on the Kuzma collection exhibit and other upcoming events.
