Jacksonville Residents Reminded to Renew Pet Licenses by May 1st
Jacksonville Animal Services is reminding all pet owners that annual dog and cat licenses are due for renewal by May 1, 2026. This annual requirement helps ensure the safety and well-being of pets within our River City community and aids in reuniting lost animals with their families.
Licenses can be renewed online through the City of Jacksonville website, by mail, or in person at the Animal Services office located at 2000 Division Street in the heart of Duval County. A current rabies vaccination certificate is required for all renewals. Fees for unaltered pets are $25, while spayed or neutered pets are $10. Senior citizens (65 and older) receive a discounted rate of $5 for spayed or neutered pets.
According to a statement from Animal Services Director Sarah Jenkins, "Pet licensing is a crucial part of responsible pet ownership. It not only helps us track and manage our pet population but also provides a vital identification system if your beloved pet ever gets lost."
Owners who fail to renew their pet's license by the May 1st deadline may be subject to late fees and potential citations. For more information, residents can visit the City of Jacksonville Animal Services page or call their office at 904-555-1234.
