Araghchi stated his country maintains preparedness for such an event. At the same time, he affirmed that diplomatic engagement has not ceased. His comments came after President Donald Trump publicly rejected a proposal. The proposal involved reopening the Strait of Hormuz. Araghchi indicated Iran's position on both military readiness and ongoing diplomatic possibilities following this rejection. The Strait of Hormuz represents a significant international waterway. It connects the Persian Gulf to the open sea. A substantial portion of the world's seaborne oil shipments pass through this strait.
