The U.S. House of Representatives voted Wednesday to table a resolution aimed at initiating impeachment proceedings against President Donald Trump. The move effectively halted the impeachment effort. The vote tally was 332 to 95. All 237 Republicans present voted to table the resolution. They were joined by 137 Democrats. Democratic Representative Al Green of Texas introduced the resolution. It cited President Trump's statements concerning four Democratic congresswomen as grounds for impeachment. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, a Democrat from California, publicly stated her opposition to the resolution before the vote. She indicated that the House Intelligence Committee and other committees were already investigating the president's actions. Following the vote, President Trump commented on the outcome, stating on Twitter, "This is perhaps the most ridiculous and unfair thing I have ever been involved in." This marks the third time the House has voted on an impeachment resolution against President Trump. All previous attempts also failed.
