WASHINGTON – The House of Representatives concluded its legislative session early, a decision by Speaker Mike Johnson that prevented votes on several measures. This action impacted initiatives advanced by Representative Thomas Massie, a Republican from Kentucky.
Massie had introduced a resolution seeking to impeach Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. The resolution cited Hegseth's handling of the conflict in Iran. The early recess meant lawmakers did not vote on this impeachment effort.
Additionally, the House did not consider a bipartisan effort that Massie supported. This effort aimed to compel the release of further documents related to the Jeffrey Epstein investigation. The House's early departure from legislative business sidelined this push for additional file disclosure.
