Honda's Marysville Plant Boosts Ohio with $700M EV Expansion, 300 Jobs
National Desk
April 29, 2026
Honda of America Manufacturing announced a transformative $700 million-plus investment to convert its Central Ohio operations—Marysville Auto Plant (MAP), East Liberty Plant (ELP) and Anna Engine Plant—into an EV hub, set to begin production in 2025.[2] The Marysville facility, Honda's inaugural U.S. plant opened in 1982 in Union County, will gain new machinery for EV powerpack unit (PIU) sub-assembly and flexible lines capable of producing both internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles and EVs, enhancing responsiveness to market shifts.[2] Nearby Anna, the cornerstone of Honda's North American engine production, will add equipment for IPU assembly cases.[2]
This expansion creates 300 new associate positions, with the Anna EV Hub serving as a training center to build expertise shared across Honda's U.S. network.[2] Earlier, Honda invested $267 million at Marysville for 2018 Accord production, including a $165 million weld shop with 342 robots and $47 million at Anna for turbo engines, adding 300 jobs then.[1] The EV push builds on that, including a separate 2 million-square-foot joint venture with L-H Battery Co. in Central Ohio for U.S. battery manufacturing to qualify for Inflation Reduction Act tax credits.[2]
For Ohio's economy, the moves reinforce Central Ohio's manufacturing might, where Honda employs thousands across Marysville, Anna and Russells Point.[1][2] Amid statewide growth, like Cincinnati-area projects adding over 1,000 manufacturing jobs, this cements Union County's role in advanced auto tech.[3] Officials hail it as a win for Buckeye workers transitioning to green jobs.
