Hollywood Fiery Crash: What We Know So Far
A fiery two-vehicle crash in Hollywood left one person dead and several others injured, and here is what we know so far.
According to NBC Miami and Hollywood Police, officers responded around 5:40 p.m. Thursday to the intersection of Sheridan Street and North 40th Avenue, where witnesses reported a pickup truck collided with another vehicle. The pickup overturned and landed on its side, while the other vehicle crashed into the wall of a private residential community and burst into flames.
Police confirmed one person died in the crash and multiple others were taken to Memorial Regional Hospital. Officials have not released the identities of those involved or updated the conditions of the survivors. Hollywood Police said the case is being handled by the department’s Traffic Homicide Unit.
The response involved police at a major intersection and a fire scene significant enough to draw a homicide investigation, though available reporting did not provide specific road-closure details. The crash scene and the need for hospital transport suggest a high-priority emergency response, but authorities have not said whether other agencies were also dispatched.
Dispatch records show prior incidents at this location, including an other call and a medical emergency on Sept. 5, 2026, plus a smoke investigation on Aug. 5, 2026.
What caused the crash remains under investigation, and police have not said whether charges are expected. Officials say the Traffic Homicide Unit is continuing the investigation, and further updates are likely as detectives confirm the sequence of events and notify families.
Day.News will continue to update this story as officials release more information.
