Hollywood Apartment Fire: What We Know So Far
A Hollywood apartment fire left one woman dead and two others injured, including a child, according to authorities, and the investigation into what caused the blaze is ongoing.
According to NBC Miami, police and fire rescue responded around 3 a.m. to the fire at 415 South Ocean Drive and found flames on the first floor, along with an injured man outside asking for help. Fire rescue removed an adult female and a juvenile from the building, and all three injured people were taken to Memorial Regional Hospital.
Authorities said the adult female died from her injuries. The juvenile and the adult were later taken to Miami Burn Center because of the severity of their injuries, according to NBC Miami and city statements. Officials have not released the identities of the victims.
The city said fire rescue extinguished the fire while bringing out the two occupants, and Hollywood police said the woman did not survive. Officials said the cause remains under investigation, and no suspect information has been reported in the available coverage.
Emergency crews from police and fire rescue were dispatched to a multi-unit residential fire, a response that typically signals concern for life safety and the possibility of victims trapped inside. The reported removal of occupants and transfer to a burn center indicates responders treated the scene as a serious injury fire.
Dispatch records show prior incidents at this address on May 21 and May 27, including a fall injury and another call classified as other.
What comes next is an official update on the fire investigation from Hollywood police or fire rescue, including whether investigators determine how the blaze started and whether any building conditions played a role.
Day.News will continue to update this story as officials release more information.
