Hollywood Apartment Fire: What We Know So Far
A Hollywood apartment fire was knocked down early Saturday, and investigators are still working to determine what sparked it, according to WSVN.
Hollywood Fire Rescue units were dispatched to an apartment at 2310 Pierce Street around 5:40 a.m., WSVN reported based on responders at the scene. When firefighters arrived, smoke was coming from a second-floor unit, and crews later extinguished the fire.
Officials said the people who live in the charred unit were not inside when the fire started. No injuries or fatalities were reported in the available coverage, according to WSVN.
The cause remains under investigation, and there has been no public finding of arson, suspect involvement or a final cause in the available reporting.
Fire crews responded to an apartment building fire, which typically requires a fast, multi-unit response to contain flames and check for extension to nearby units. The reporting did not specify the full number of units sent to the scene.
Dispatch records show 273 similar structure fires have been reported in Hollywood over the past six months.
Officials have not released a timeline for a final cause determination. Further updates are expected from fire investigators as they review the scene and gather evidence.
Day.News will continue to update this story as officials release more information.
