A fire at an apartment building in Hollywood injured one firefighter and sent the blaze into an A/C unit and part of the building, according to local news reports. Here is what we know so far.
Hollywood Fire Rescue officials said the fire started in an air-conditioning unit and extended into the apartment building area, according to WSVN 7News, Local 10 and CBS Miami. Local 10 reported the fire was quickly extinguished after spreading into the apartment, and no civilian injuries were reported in the coverage from local outlets.
One firefighter was taken to the hospital for observation after injuries described as unrelated to the fire, according to Local 10. The American Red Cross was expected to assist the affected occupant or homeowner, according to the same reporting.
The emergency response included Hollywood Fire Rescue crews on scene at the apartment building in the 2700 block of Johnson Street, according to the reports. The response suggests firefighters were able to contain the fire before it spread further through the structure.
