Hippodrome State Theatre Opens 54th Season with 'You Can’t Take it With You'

Gainesville's Hippodrome State Theatre Kicks Off 54th Season with Screwball Comedy

The Hippodrome State Theatre opened its 54th season on Friday, September 11, with the screwball comedy 'You Can’t Take it With You'. The debut performance took place at 7 p.m., followed by an opening night celebration.

This new season marks the second organized by Consulting Artistic Director, Evans Haile. Haile took on the role in May 2025, bringing his vision to the theatre's programming.

Highlights of the 54th Season

Beyond the opening production, the Hippodrome has several other performances planned. The horror comedy musical 'Little Shop of Horrors' will debut on October 14. Additionally, the theatre is screening a series of films by director Mel Brooks throughout September. These screenings include 'Young Frankenstein', 'Blazing Saddles', and 'Robin Hood, Men In Tights'.
