Hernando Residents Reminded to Renew Pet Licenses by May 1st

Hernando Animal Control is reminding all pet owners that annual dog and cat licenses are due for renewal by May 1, 2026. This annual requirement helps ensure the safety and well-being of pets within our community, allowing Animal Control to quickly reunite lost animals with their owners.

Licenses can be renewed at the Hernando City Hall, located at 200 E. Commerce Street in the heart of historic downtown Hernando, during regular business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Residents will need to provide proof of current rabies vaccination for each pet being licensed. The cost for an annual license remains $10 for spayed or neutered pets and $25 for unaltered pets.

According to Hernando Animal Control Officer Sarah Jenkins, "Licensing your pet is a simple step that can make a huge difference if your beloved companion ever gets lost. It also helps us maintain accurate records for public health and safety."

Pet owners who fail to renew their licenses by the May 1st deadline may be subject to late fees. For more information, residents can contact Hernando Animal Control at 662-429-9092.
