Residents in Mendocino and Lake Counties are advised to take precautions against extreme heat, as a Heat Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Eureka, CA. The advisory is effective immediately, October 5, 2026, at 12:49 PM PDT, and will remain in effect until 11:00 PM PDT on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.
High temperatures are expected to reach up to 105 degrees Fahrenheit during the day, with overnight temperatures remaining in the 60s. This prolonged heat, categorized as Moderate to localized High HeatRisk, increases the potential for heat-related illnesses.
The NWS advises all individuals in the affected areas—Northwestern Interior Mendocino, Northeastern Interior Mendocino, Southwestern Interior Mendocino, Southeastern Interior Mendocino, Northern Lake, Western Lake, Southwestern Lake, and Eastern Lake counties—to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, stay out of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors.
