According to CBS News Miami and Hallandale Beach police, the collapse involved a pedestrian walkway or section of a building at 1250 East Hallandale Beach Boulevard. Police said, “The walkway has collapsed. At this time, there are no reported injuries.”
Fire rescue crews found the structure partially collapsed, with two unoccupied vehicles trapped beneath debris, according to the reports. Authorities said the building was partially evacuated out of an abundance of caution while crews assessed whether the structure remained safe.
Traffic delays were expected in the surrounding area as emergency crews worked the scene, according to officials. No specific road closures were confirmed in the available reports.
Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue said a representative from building management and a structural engineer from the City of Hallandale Beach responded to assess the damage and determine when, or if, residents could return. The cause of the collapse had not been determined in the available reporting.
