Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, held at the detention facility in Guantánamo Bay since 2006, faces a military commission trial beginning in June 2028. This marks the first public scheduling for his prosecution.

Defense attorneys and prosecutors have navigated various legal proceedings since Mohammed's detention. The United States government initially apprehended Mohammed in Pakistan in 2003. Authorities then transferred him to Guantánamo Bay three years later.
