Cole allowed one run on six hits, struck out six batters, and issued one walk. He reached 99.6 mph with his four-seam fastball, averaging 97 mph, and threw 56 pitches for strikes.
This outing marked Cole's sixth minor league rehabilitation start, and his first at the Triple-A level. He previously made two starts for High-A Hudson Valley and three for Double-A Somerset. Cole's pitch count of 86 exceeded his previous outing's 77 pitches.
Over 28 2/3 innings in his rehabilitation starts, Cole maintains a 4.71 ERA. He has allowed 28 hits, recorded 28 strikeouts, and walked three batters. Cole began his minor league rehab assignments on April 17, following reconstructive elbow surgery on March 11 last year. Yankees manager Aaron Boone indicated Cole will likely make one more minor league start before rejoining the major league roster.
