This engagement represented the first known one-on-one discussion between the foreign ministers since Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. The meeting took place during the annual diplomatic gathering at the UN headquarters.
Following the discussion, Minister Lavrov characterized the talks. He described the exchange as dismissive.
