Garcia Nears Zamora Trophy Qualification, Aims to Overtake Courtois
Barcelona goalkeeper Joan Garcia is nearing qualification for the Zamora Trophy, awarded to La Liga's goalkeeper with the lowest goals-against average. To qualify, a goalkeeper must play at least 28 matches with a minimum of 60 minutes played in each. Garcia has conceded 19 goals in 27 La Liga appearances, giving him a 0.70 goals-against average.
Real Madrid's Thibaut Courtois currently holds the benchmark with 24 goals conceded in 28 matches, a 0.86 average. David Soria and Luiz Junior are also in contention for the award. Garcia's next appearance against Osasuna will qualify him for consideration. Courtois is not expected to play until the final few games of the season.
