Gale Warning: Hazardous Conditions for Offshore Waters until Friday Evening

Mariners are advised to alter plans and avoid hazardous conditions due to a Gale Warning issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Wakefield VA. This warning is in effect for the waters from Cape Charles Light to the Virginia - North Carolina Border, specifically from 20 to 60 nautical miles offshore.

Northeast winds of 25 to 35 knots, with gusts up to 45 knots, are expected. Seas will be dangerously high, ranging from 12 to 18 feet. These conditions are anticipated to cause hazardous seas that could capsize or damage vessels and significantly reduce visibility.

The Gale Warning was issued on September 23 at 1:57 AM EDT and will remain in effect until 6:00 PM EDT on Friday, September 25. The NWS advises all mariners to remain in port, seek safe harbor, alter course, and/or secure their vessels for these hazardous conditions.
