Fort Myers Job Seekers Find Opportunities at Upcoming Career Fairs and Workshops
Fort Myers residents looking to advance their careers or find new employment will have several opportunities this spring, with local organizations hosting a series of career fairs and workshops designed to connect job seekers with employers and provide valuable skills training.
The Fort Myers Economic Development Office announced its support for these initiatives, emphasizing the importance of a skilled workforce for the city's continued growth. "Connecting our talented residents with local businesses is a top priority," stated a representative from the office. "These events are crucial for fostering economic vitality and ensuring our community thrives."
Among the upcoming events, the Southwest Florida Workforce Development Board is organizing a large-scale career fair at the Harborside Event Center on April 23rd, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Over 50 local businesses, ranging from healthcare providers to hospitality groups and construction companies, are expected to participate, offering positions across various sectors. Job seekers are encouraged to bring multiple copies of their resumes and dress in professional attire.
Additionally, the Fort Myers Public Library system will be hosting a series of free resume-building and interview skills workshops throughout April and May. The main branch on First Street in the heart of historic downtown Fort Myers will offer sessions every Tuesday evening at 6:00 PM, starting April 9th. These workshops aim to equip attendees with the tools needed to make a strong impression on potential employers.
Local community colleges, including Florida SouthWestern State College, are also contributing by offering open house events for their vocational and certificate programs. These events, scheduled for various dates in late April, will allow prospective students to explore training options that align with current industry demands in the Fort Myers area.
Residents seeking more information on specific dates, times, and participating employers for the career fair can visit the Southwest Florida Workforce Development Board's website. Details on library workshops are available at any Fort Myers Public Library branch or on their online calendar.
