Fort Lauderdale Fire: What We Know So Far
A commercial structure fire in Fort Lauderdale is under active investigation, with crews still working inside the building, according to Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue and NBC Miami.
Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue said the fire was reported at 1316 NE 4th Ave, near the initial dispatch location, and that crews were on scene operating an interior fire attack with two hose lines stretched, according to the department.
NBC Miami reported that firefighters found heavy smoke and fire in a related Fort Lauderdale apartment fire response, then contained the blaze to a storage area after about 45 minutes, according to Chief Steve Gollan. Gollan said, "After about 45 minutes of attacking the fire, we were able to call it under control and contain it to the origin."
In that report, Gollan said no one was injured, no homes were damaged and no one was displaced. Investigators were still working to determine what started the fire, and no cause had been confirmed in the available reporting.
The response included Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue crews conducting an interior attack, which suggests firefighters were actively entering the structure to knock down the fire from within rather than only operating from the outside, according to the department’s update.
Dispatch records show a prior structure fire at this address on June 1, 2026, giving the location a recent history of fire activity.
Officials have not yet announced a cause or released additional details on damage, and more updates are expected as investigators continue their work.
Day.News will continue to update this story as officials release more information.
