IRVINE, Calif. (Sept. 17, 2026) – Foreclosure activity across the United States in August 2026 registered above levels from the previous year. A report released today by ATTOM, a property data and analytics provider, detailed these increases.
Analysts at ATTOM found that foreclosure starts increased 7 percent compared to August 2025. During this same period, completed foreclosures, which ATTOM refers to as REOs (Real Estate Owned), rose 42 percent annually.
