Florida Cosmetologist Guilty in Burlingame Death of Kim Lookalike Model

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. -- Vivian Alexandra Gomez, a 53-year-old unlicensed cosmetologist from Royal Palm Beach, Florida, was convicted Monday in San Mateo County Superior Court of felony involuntary manslaughter and practicing medicine without a license in the death of Christina Ashten Gourkani.[1][2][4] The verdict came after a 15-day trial and three hours of jury deliberations in Redwood City. Gourkani, a 34-year-old Bay Area social media influencer and OnlyFans star with hundreds of thousands of followers known for her resemblance to Kim Kardashian, hired Gomez for an illegal gluteal silicone injection.[1][2] On April 19, 2023, Gomez flew into San Francisco International Airport and met Gourkani and her fiancé at the Burlingame Marriott hotel, where she administered the unapproved injections.[1][4] Gourkani fell critically ill shortly after, prompting her fiancé to call 911. She was rushed to Mills Peninsula Hospital in Burlingame, where she succumbed to respiratory failure and pulmonary embolism the next day, April 20.[1][2] The Food and Drug Administration warns that injectable silicone for body contouring is not approved and can lead to severe injuries, disfigurement or death.[1] Gomez returned to Florida after the procedure and was arrested there before waiving extradition to San Mateo County.[1][4] Released on $200,000 bail, she remained in California pending trial. Following the guilty verdict, she was remanded into custody without bail.[1] Sentencing is set for May 5, with Gomez facing up to seven years in state prison, according to the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office.[1][2]
