The Finger Lakes has solidified its status as a world-class wine region following its designation as Wine Enthusiast's 2025 American Wine Region of the Year, a honor reflecting decades of innovation dating back to Charles Fournier and Dr. Konstantin Frank, whose breakthroughs in Vitis vinifera cultivation transformed American viticulture. Today, the region encompasses more than 140 wineries operating across Canandaigua, Cayuga, Keuka, and Seneca lakes, attracting visitors through expanded wine trail experiences that showcase the region's terroir and hospitality. The Finger Lakes Wine Alliance and regional tourism councils have launched coordinated initiatives to deepen visitor engagement beyond traditional tastings.
