NEW YORK – The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) today, July 13, 2026, approved a weekly subcutaneous starting dose for Leqembi. Leqembi is a medication for individuals with early Alzheimer's disease. Dr. Howard Fillit, co-founder and chief science officer of the Alzheimer's Drug Discovery Foundation (ADDF), discussed the FDA's decision. "The FDA approval of a subcutaneous starting dose for Leqembi provides an additional administration method for patients," Dr. Fillit stated. He added that the ADDF previously supported the development of Leqembi through research funding for its underlying amyloid-beta directed mechanism.
