Extreme Heat Warning Issued for Santa Ana Mountains and Foothills Through Thursday
An Extreme Heat Warning has been issued for the Santa Ana Mountains and Foothills by the NWS San Diego, effective tonight until Thursday, October 8, with dangerously hot temperatures up to 100 degrees and warm nights expected.
Residents in the Santa Ana Mountains and Foothills should prepare for dangerously hot conditions starting tonight, October 4, at 9:10 PM PDT. The National Weather Service (NWS) San Diego has issued an Extreme Heat Warning, effective until 8:00 PM PDT on Thursday, October 8.
High temperatures are expected to reach 90 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit, with overnight lows remaining warm, in the low to mid-70s. These conditions significantly increase the risk of heat-related illnesses.
To mitigate these risks, the NWS advises residents to drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned rooms, and remain out of the sun. It is also critical to check on relatives and neighbors during this period. Never leave young children or pets in unattended vehicles, as car interiors can quickly reach lethal temperatures.
