Environmental Specialist II Job - Lake City Agriculture Dept
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is hiring an Environmental Specialist II for its Lake City office. The full-time position pays $38,659.80 to $50,000.04 annually and closes June 3.
The specialist will conduct on-site inspections of agricultural operations in Region III to verify compliance with water quality standards and pesticide and fertilizer regulations. Duties include reviewing records, interviewing producers, collecting water and soil samples, and writing compliance reports.
The job also requires investigating environmental complaints, reviewing permit applications, and providing technical assistance to farmers on best management practices and water conservation.
Applicants must hold a valid driver's license and a bachelor's degree in environmental science or a natural science. The state requires successful candidates to obtain a Florida Department of Agriculture Pesticide Applicator's license within six months of hire.
